There are two primary schools in the parish.
Rufford Church of England Primary School is on Flash Lane in Rufford and Holmeswood Methodist Primary School is on Chapel Lane in Holmeswood.
They are both classed as rural schools.

This playgroup opened in 1993 and operates from the large hall and a smaller room in the village hall. The hall is situated in seven acres of parkland in Rufford. The group is open for 43 weeks a year Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Wednesday and Thursday 08:00 to 13:00. The children have access to an enclosed outdoor play area.
