The parish of Rufford with Holmeswood is in the county of Lancashire in the country of England. The Local Authority District/Unitary Authority is West Lancashire , although it is in the parliamentary constituency of South Ribble (see below).
At the last official count (in 2001), there were 797 occupied households in the parish, containing a total of 2,048 people (1,015 male and 1,033 female). Of the 2,048 total, 1,604 were over the age of 16.
There were 388 detached houses, 385 semi-detached or terraced houses and 47 flats or mobile homes. Of the total number of 820 dwellings, 704 were of privately owned, 53 were housing assocation or council-rented and 40 were privately rented.

The red rose is the main feature of the Lancashire Coat of Arms.
The lions are from the first Earls of Derby (the de Ferrers), the landowners in this area before the Earldom of Lancaster was created in 1267. 
The first Earl of Lancaster was the son of Henry III, Edmund Crouchback Plantagenet. In 1351, the 4th Earl of Lancaster, Henry Grosmont, was made a Duke.

Diocese of Blackburn
The Diocese of Blackburn is in the Pprovince of York and used toform part of the Diocese of Manchester (until 1926). It covers most of Lancashire (except for Liverpool and Manchester).
The cathedral is the former parish church of St Mary (erected1818). There are two archdeaconries (Blackburn and Lancaster) in the diocese, both divided into rural deaneries and the parish of Rufford with Holmeswood is in the Leyland Deanery.
